Walking 1k a day!
While few people would argue the benefits of getting children more active in school, increased focus on core curriculum subjects has seen time tables squeezed more than ever before. Finding time in the day to add additional physical activity can be tough – Which is why the Steps 2 Summit program offers the perfect solution.
Daily activity can be completed during lunch and playtimes, with teachers then choosing to do additional sessions when they feel that the class (or them!) would benefit from a brain break in lesson time. You can load the distance of a number of pre-set courses on the school grounds into your Steps 2 Summit account, meaning that classes can jump out of the classroom and instantly get active!

Unique S2S training videos
One of the biggest issues when looking to implement a daily physical activity program is space. Many schools are faced with the challenge of trying to implement a program in a space not suitable for children to realistically undertake daily physical activity in. This can quickly see the program lose momentum and fizzle out.
With the S2S training videos, children can join in the adventure with videos streamed directly from the Steps 2 Summit training hut!
There are 3 Training Suites for children to attempt and each is filled with dozens of engaging videos. Every video has a progress value based on the intensity of the video which then credits towards each childs summit bid. The videos have all been designed to allow children to get active in their classroom – So there really is no excuse to not get your class progressing towards the summit!
When bad weather hits the adventurers on the mountain, there is only one thing to do. They head into the hut and complete the S2S training videos which your children can join them in from the warmth of their classroom!
The mountaineers are stranded on the mountain and losing power from their generator. They need your help to produce enough kinetic energy to re-power the generator!
The sports science team on the mountain are concerned about the condition of some of the mountaineers. They have been running tests and their energy levels are really down. Join the adventurers as they attempt to get their condition back to 100%!

Steps 2 School
Additionally, you can encourage children to walk to school as part of the Steps 2 School initiative. Children can have their home to school distance loaded into your Steps 2 Summit system. They can then be scanned in or out of school once they have arrived and that distance will be added to their daily physical activity record.
The Steps 2 School initiative really is a fantastic way to encourage more children to walk to school more often!
Understand the world and the people that live in it
Awe and adventure are important skills that are promoted through the Steps 2 Summit program. By learning about the geography, stories, history and culture of some of the world’s most iconic mountain areas, children develop a deeper understanding of the world they live in.
To support this, each year group has access to unique, bespoke lesson plans to deliver as part of the program.
The lessons embrace all aspects of the curriculum. Opportunities for creativity, mindfulness and resilience are built in alongside plenty of national curriculum content. The starting point for each year group's planning, has been the mountain itself, with its own quirks and interesting facts, leading the direction of learning.
Assemblies about inspiring stories
Included in your Steps 2 Summit program is a years’ worth of whole school assemblies and engaging, eye-catching displays. These can be downloaded from your school resources section and used each half term to focus on an inspiring group of mountaineers with incredible stories for you to share with your pupils.
We take our social responsibility seriously. That's why we support a number of organizations in their work developing education in Nepal through our Steps 2 Nepal program.
Sandwiched between India and Tibet and dominated by the rugged peaks of the Himalaya, Nepal is an unforgettable land of fertile valleys and peaceful villages, winding mountain trails dotted with prayer flags and wildflowers, gigantic glaciers and the snow-capped peaks of the world's highest mountains.
It's the combination of awe-inspiring wilderness, vibrant culture and gentle pace that captures the hearts of those who visit, luring people back and confirming Nepal's official tourism slogan: Once is Not Enough.

How can you talk about the first double amputee to climb Mount Everest without talking about perseverance?
How could the qualities associated with honesty not crop up when learning about false summit claims and their repercussions?
How can the traits of curiosity and high aspirations be avoided, when you talk about a 14 year old who has climbed the seven summits?
Compassion and teamwork are pretty impossible to ignore when talking about any kind of mountain climbing.
Climbing a virtual mountain and learning about its geography, stories, history and culture provide the perfect platform to really put these crucial qualities at the centre. Unique data recording software
We believe that to add real value in education, you need to make things simpler for teachers! That’s why we invested so heavily in developing unique tracking software which allows young leaders to take control of recording pupil progress data in school.
With the bespoke scanning software, each child in school has an individual barcode. Every time they complete activity, that barcode is scanned and their activity is automatically uploaded to their account.
